About the Examination
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites online applications for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) Examination (I) 2026. This examination is conducted twice a year for admission to the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of NDA and for the Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). The recruitment process involves a written examination followed by an SSB interview.
Application Process
- Candidates must apply online through the UPSC portal: upsconline.nic.in.
- The online application portal has four modules:
- Account Creation
- Universal Registration
- Common Application Form
- Examination Specific Form (active during notification period)
- On registration, a Universal Registration Number (URN) is generated, common for all UPSC exams.
- After filling the exam-specific form, an Application Number is generated, which is unique for NDA & NA (I) 2026.
- Candidates are advised to use Aadhaar Card as ID for seamless verification.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be born between the dates specified in the detailed notification (generally 16.5 to 19.5 years).
- Educational Qualification:
- For Army Wing of NDA: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent.
- For Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: 12th Class pass with Physics and Mathematics.
- Marital Status: Only unmarried male/female candidates are eligible.
- Medical Standards: Candidates must meet prescribed physical and medical standards.
Selection Process
- Stage 1: Written Examination (Mathematics & General Ability Test).
- Stage 2: SSB Interview (Intelligence and Personality Test).
- Stage 3: Medical Examination.

- Admission at all stages is provisional until eligibility is verified with original documents.
- Mere issue of e-Admit Card does not imply final acceptance of candidature.
