Eligibility criteria
- Nationality: Indian citizen.
- Educational/Professional: DGMS-issued Competency Certificate (Mining Mate/Foreman) applicable to metalliferous mines:
- Underground Mines: Unrestricted competency certificate.
- Opencast Mines: Restricted or Unrestricted competency certificate.
- Experience: Minimum 03 years of working experience in metalliferous mines (as on 31-12-2025).
- Age limit (as on 31-12-2025): Maximum 40 years.
- Relaxation for experienced Mining Mate: Maximum age may be relaxed by the period equivalent to experience over and above 3 years, subject to a cap of 53 years.
- Category relaxations: As per Government norms for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD/EWS, where applicable.
Reservation and relaxations
- Reservation: SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS as per Government of India guidelines; horizontal reservations may apply for PwBD/Ex-servicemen as per rules.
- Certificates: Candidates must possess valid certificates in the prescribed formats issued by competent authorities. OBC candidates must have a current NCL certificate.

Selection process
- Stages: Shortlisting (based on eligibility), Written Test/Trade Test as notified, followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination.

- Medical fitness: Final appointment is subject to medical fitness as per UCIL standards.
