About the Recruitment
South Eastern Railway invites online applications from eligible Indian nationals for engagement/training as Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 (as amended). Training will be imparted in Workshops and other establishments of SER. Applications must be submitted online; no other mode of application will be accepted.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)
- Minimum Age: 15 years
- Maximum Age: 24 years
- Relaxations:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Ex-Servicemen: Additional 10 years, up to the extent of service rendered in Defence Forces plus 3 years (minimum 6 months continuous service required). Not applicable to Ex-servicemen already employed in Civil Govt. service after availing ExSM status.
Educational Qualification
- Matriculation (10th class in 10+2 examination system) from a recognized Board with minimum 50% aggregate marks (excluding additional subjects).
- ITI Pass certificate in the relevant trade issued by NCVT/SCVT.
Medical Fitness
- Candidates must satisfy minimum physical fitness standards as prescribed under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.
- Fitness must be certified by a Railway Medical Doctor in the prescribed format (Annexure-II).
Application Fee
- Fee: ₹100/- (non-refundable)
- Exempted Categories: SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates
- Payment Mode: Online via Payment Gateway (Debit Card/Credit Card/Internet Banking/UPI/e-Wallets). Transaction charges, if any, to be borne by the candidate.
- Note: In case of server issues due to heavy rush, candidates must log in afresh and attempt payment again.
Mode of Selection
- Selection will be based on a merit list prepared trade-wise.
- Merit list will be prepared on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate).
- Marks obtained in all subjects will be considered for percentage calculation, not just specific subjects.

- Applications must be submitted online before the closing date; late submissions will not be entertained.
- Incomplete or incorrect applications are liable to rejection.
