Six-Month Certificate Training Course in Cultural Property Conservation (2025-26)

The National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property (NRLC), under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is inviting applications for its Six-Month Certificate Training Course in Cultural Property Conservation. This training program is designed for in-service professionals and fresh candidates aspiring to build expertise in conservation techniques.

Course Duration: 1st September 2025 – 27th February 2026
Location: NRLC-Training Institute, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh


Course Details

Number of Seats: 30 (Thirty)

Eligibility Criteria

(A) In-Service Candidates:

Candidates working in Museums, Archives, Libraries, and other government/non-government institutions as:

  • Chemists
  • Conservators
  • Restorers

(B) Fresh Applicants:

Must hold a Master’s Degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Science (with Chemistry at graduation level)
  • Fine Arts
  • Art Conservation
  • Archaeology
  • Museology
  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Archaeology & Museology

Course Contents

The course covers conservation techniques for various cultural properties, including:

  • Organic and inorganic art objects
  • Materials such as paper, palm leaf, stone, metal, leather, parchment, wood, bone, ivory, ceramics, glass, paintings, photographic materials, etc.
  • History & technology of cultural property
  • Deterioration processes and remedial conservation methods

  • Scholarship: Four scholarships (@ ₹1000/month for Indian nationals, based on merit and performance).

  • In-Service Applicants: Must apply through the proper channel.
