National Environmental Engineering Research Institute invites online applications for the recruitment of the following posts on a contractual basis:
- Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) – 26 posts
- Junior Stenographer (Jr. Steno) – 07 posts
Important:
- Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 12th standard (or its equivalent) and be proficient in computer typing. For the stenographer post, proficiency in shorthand/stenography is additionally required.
- Age Limit:
- Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): Maximum 28 years
- Junior Stenographer (Jr. Steno): Maximum 27 years
(Government of India relaxations apply as per norms.)- Selection Process: Candidates will undergo a Computer Based Examination (CBE) followed by a Typing Test.

Examination Pattern
The selection consists of two papers. Only candidates securing the minimum threshold marks (as fixed by the Selection Committee) in Paper‑I will be eligible to appear in Paper‑II. The final merit list will be prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in Paper‑II.
Paper‑I:
- Duration: 90 Minutes
- Content:
- A computer-based cognitive/mental ability test covering elements such as conventional intelligence and functional judgment.
- Medium: English and Hindi
- Standard: Corresponding to Class 10+2 (or XII) level
- Total Questions: 100
- Total Time Allotted: Approximately 90 minutes

Paper‑II:
- Duration: 60 Minutes
- Structure: Consists of two sections:
- Section A – Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning:
- Maximum Marks: 150
- Marking Scheme: +3 marks for every correct answer; –1 mark for every wrong answer
- Section B – General Awareness:
- Maximum Marks: 150
- Marking Scheme: +3 marks for every correct answer; –1 mark for every wrong answer
Thus, candidates can score a maximum of 300 marks in Paper‑II.
